EXPERIENCE BUILT BY THE BILLIONS

Helping Kiewit Optimize Cost Through Thoughtful Planning and Execution

For this project in Orange Texas, the Mustang T&D team took a consultative and collaborative approach. Working with the client’s civil and crane team they coordinated all activities on the active jobsite to build a tailored layout plan.

A total of 1700 mats were installed in a custom combination of wood and composite mat layers. Composite pads offered huge savings over traditional 12″ timber crane mats in freight and rental costs. The fully engineered mat products got the green light from client’s engineering/crane team.

Interconnecting composite mats were used as the top layer for temporary roads and work pads, creating a “seamless” surface. Mustang also built interlocked mat ramps onto work pads, with gradual height transitions, so cranes could safely traverse in harsh winter conditions.

Mustang visited the site multiple times, both prior and during construction, to ensure optimal installation. The crew also revisited the site to perform a partial removal mid-project and help further reduce costs for the customer.

The customer was extremely happy with Mustang’s plan and the project outcome.

“Mustang has been a helpful partner on our OCAPS project. They provided a fair price and high-quality work and material for the required access on the job. Their team helped put together a successful plan to optimize costs and use only what was needed. Once on the job, the team complied with all TIC and client safety and security requirements. Overall, the project has been a success to date, and I would work with Mustang on future projects.”
