Mustang Extreme’s history in the Marcellus Shale region dates to the beginning of the boom in 2009 when Antero asked us to support their operations. Having worked with Mustang in the Barnett Shale since 2007, they recognized our expertise and experience using hydraulic fracturing techniques, which were being adapted for the Marcellus. At the time, the Northeast lacked experienced crews, so Mustang crews traveled back and forth from Oklahoma. With work exploding, the decision was made to establish permanent operations in West Virginia and eventually Pennsylvania and Ohio. Led by experienced staff from our Oklahoma operation, skilled workers were recruited from landfill crews, who jumped at the chance for better pay and steady work that was less taxing. As the industry in the region grew, so did Mustang.
